Has the NEET 2027 Physics Syllabus Been Released?

Not yet. The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the NEET 2026 syllabus on 23 December 2025, with no changes from 2025. Until the 2027 version is published, the NEET 2026 Physics syllabus is the one to follow.

Big changes are unlikely, because NCERT is keeping the same Class 11 and 12 textbooks for 2026–27. We explain the reasons in detail in our guide on what could change for 2027.

Physics Syllabus at a Glance

  • Units: 20 (10 from Class 11 and 10 from Class 12)
  • NCERT chapters covered: 28
  • Questions in the paper: 45 Physics questions, 180 marks, based on the current pattern
  • Special unit: Experimental Skills, added in the 2024 revision

Is This Topic in the NEET 2027 Physics Syllabus?

These are the questions students search for most. The answers are based on the current NMC syllabus and its official list of deleted topics.

TopicIn the syllabus?Note
Rolling motionNoNot part of the Rotational Motion unit
Heat engines and refrigerators (Carnot engine)NoRemoved from Thermodynamics in 2024
Earth’s magnetism and magnetic elementsNoRemoved from the Magnetism unit

Physics Chapter Wise Weightage: Where to Focus

Exact numbers change every year, but recent papers show a clear pattern. Use this physics chapter wise weightage as a priority guide, and check our NEET 2027 chapter weightage page for the full breakdown.

PriorityUnits
HighElectrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects and Magnetism, Optics, Dual Nature + Atoms and Nuclei, Rotational Motion
MediumKinematics, Laws of Motion, Work Energy Power, Gravitation, Thermodynamics + KTG, Oscillations and Waves, Properties of Solids and Liquids, EMI and AC, Electronic Devices
LowerPhysics and Measurement, Electromagnetic Waves, Experimental Skills

Modern Physics is one of the best return-on-time areas in the whole paper. Our Modern Physics scoring guide shows why. Use one good reference book per unit; our list of the best Physics reference books helps you choose.

20Experimental SkillsPractical-based questions from lab experiments (see below)

Experimental Skills: The Unit Many Students Ignore

This unit tests practical knowledge from NCERT lab experiments. Common ones include:

  • Vernier callipers and screw gauge readings
  • Simple pendulum and time period
  • Young’s modulus of a wire and surface tension by capillary rise
  • Resistivity using a metre bridge, and Ohm’s law
  • Focal length of mirrors and lenses, and refractive index of a glass slab
  • Characteristic curves of a p-n junction diode and a Zener diode

Questions here are usually short and direct. One or two focused revision sessions are enough to secure these marks.

How to Use This Syllabus With PYQs

A syllabus list only helps if you turn it into a plan. Follow these steps:

  1. Print the two tables above and tick each chapter as you finish it.
  2. After each chapter, solve its PYQs using the links in the table. This shows you exactly how NTA tests that chapter.
  3. Mark weak chapters in red and revisit them every two weeks.
  4. Cover High-priority units first if you are short on time.
  5. Stick to one reference book per unit so you do not waste time switching.

NEET physics PYQs are the most reliable guide to question style. Two rounds of chapter-wise PYQs usually improve Physics scores more than any new book.

Conclusion

The NEET 2027 Physics syllabus is expected to stay the same 20 units and 28 NCERT chapters as 2026. Skip the removed topics, give extra time to the high-weightage units, and pair every chapter with its PYQs. When NMC releases the official document, compare it with this list, and you will know within minutes if anything has changed.
