Has the NEET 2027 Biology Syllabus Been Released?

Not yet. The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the NEET 2026 syllabus on 23 December 2025, with no changes from 2025. Until the 2027 version is published, the NEET 2026 Biology syllabus is the one to follow.

Big changes are unlikely, because NCERT is keeping the same Class 11 and 12 textbooks for 2026–27. We explain why in our guide on what could change for 2027.

Biology Syllabus at a Glance

  • Units: 10 (5 from Class 11 and 5 from Class 12)

The Plant Families Many Students Miss

The NMC syllabus names five flowering plant families under Structural Organisation: Malvaceae, Cruciferae, Leguminosae, Compositae and Gramineae. The current NCERT chapter describes Fabaceae (another name for Leguminosae), Solanaceae and Liliaceae.

Learn the floral formula, floral diagram and two or three examples for each family named in the syllabus. This is a small topic, but questions on it are direct and easy to score once you know it.

How to Use This Syllabus With PYQs

  1. Print the two tables above and tick each chapter as you finish it.
  2. After each chapter, solve its PYQs using the links in the table. This shows exactly how NTA tests it.
  3. Read NCERT line by line. Most Biology questions are taken directly from NCERT sentences, tables and diagrams.
  4. Revise diagrams every week, especially in Human Physiology, Reproduction and Plant Anatomy.
  5. Cover the high-weightage units first if you are short on time.

NEET biology PYQs are the most reliable guide to question style. Two rounds of chapter-wise PYQs, done alongside NCERT reading, usually lift Biology scores more than any extra book.
