Where Things Stand Right Now
Here is the current, confirmed position:
- NEET 2027 syllabus: not released yet. The National Medical Commission (NMC) prepares the NEET UG syllabus, and NTA follows it.
- NEET 2026 syllabus: released by NMC on 23 December 2025. It had no additions and no deletions compared with NEET 2025.
- Last major revision: the NEET 2024 syllabus, when NMC removed several topics and added a few, including a new Experimental Skills unit in Physics.
So the syllabus has now stayed the same for two exam cycles in a row. That matters when you think about 2027. For every official announcement as it happens, bookmark our NEET 2027 latest updates page.

NEET 2027 Syllabus Changes: What Could Actually Change
1. The Topic List: Very Unlikely to Change Much
The NEET syllabus follows NCERT. In March 2026, NCERT deferred its new Class 10 and 11 textbooks to the 2027–28 academic year. That means NEET 2027 students are studying from the same Class 11 and 12 books as the NEET 2026 batch.
With no new textbooks, NMC has little reason to add or remove chapters for 2027. The earliest batch that could see a textbook-driven change is the one that starts Class 11 with the new books in 2027–28, which is the NEET 2029 batch. If you want to start with Physics, our NEET 2027 Physics syllabus guide lists every chapter with its PYQs.
2. The Exam Mode: This Is the Real Open Question
The bigger change may not be in the syllabus at all. At the Supreme Court hearing on 18 September 2026, the government said a shift to computer-based testing (CBT) for NEET 2027 is under active consideration. A task force led by Nandan Nilekani is studying it.
A NEET 2027 CBT would change how you take the exam, not what you study. You would still answer questions from the same chapters. Follow our latest NEET 2027 CBT news for updates, and see how the experience differs in our OMR vs CBT comparison.
3. Small Wording Updates: Possible
Sometimes the NMC syllabus is reworded without changing its content. The 2026 document was labelled “Updated Syllabus”, which confused many students, even though nothing had actually changed. If the 2027 document uses similar wording, compare it unit by unit before assuming anything is new.
4. Deleted Topics: Expected to Stay Deleted
Topics removed in 2024 have stayed out for 2025 and 2026. In Physics, examples include rolling motion, heat engines and refrigerators, and Earth’s magnetism. There is no sign that these will return in 2027.
What Will Not Change
Whatever NEET 2027 syllabus changes NMC announces, some things are safe to rely on:
- NCERT remains the base. Every chapter in the NEET syllabus maps to an NCERT chapter.
- Three subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology, with Biology split into Botany and Zoology.
- Past papers stay useful. Questions from the current syllabus period are the best guide to what NTA asks.
- High-weightage chapters stay high. Chapters like Human Physiology, Genetics, Electrostatics and Organic Chemistry keep their importance.
What You Should Do Now
Do not wait for the official notice to start or continue your preparation. Here is a simple plan:
- Study from last year’s NMC syllabus. It is the most reliable guide until NMC releases the 2027 version.
- Skip removed chapters and topics. Do not spend time on anything removed in 2024.
- Practise past questions chapter by chapter. Solve each chapter’s previous year questions right after you finish it.
- Prepare for both exam modes. Keep solving on paper, but also take a few on-screen mock tests.
- Check the NMC website in December. When the 2027 document arrives, compare it unit by unit with 2026.
How to Check the Official Syllabus When It Arrives
When NMC releases the document, this is the quickest way to spot real NEET 2027 syllabus changes:
- Download the PDF from the official NMC website (nmc.org.in) or the NTA NEET website.
- Open last year’s PDF next to it.
- Compare each unit title and its listed topics.
- Note any topic that appears in only one of the two documents.
This takes about 30 minutes, and it is far more reliable than social media posts claiming “big changes”.
Conclusion
Based on everything confirmed so far, NEET 2027 syllabus changes are likely to be small or none at all. The NCERT books are the same, the syllabus has been stable for two years, and the only major open question is the exam mode. Keep preparing from the NEET 2026 syllabus, skip the deleted topics, and check the official document when it is released.
FAQ
Q: Has the NEET 2027 syllabus been released? A: Not yet. The 2026 version was released by NMC on 23 December 2025, so the 2027 version may follow a similar timeline, around December 2026.
Q: Will there be NEET 2027 syllabus changes? A: Big changes are unlikely. NCERT has kept the same Class 11 and 12 textbooks for 2026–27, and the syllabus did not change between 2025 and 2026.
Q: Which syllabus should I follow for NEET 2027 right now? A: Follow the NEET 2026 syllabus released by NMC. It is the most reliable guide until the 2027 version is published.
Q: Will the new NCERT books affect NEET 2027? A: No. NCERT has deferred the new Class 11 textbooks to 2027–28, so they cannot affect NEET 2027. The first batch they could affect is NEET 2029.
Q: Will CBT mode change the NEET 2027 syllabus? A: No. Computer-based testing would change how the exam is conducted, not which chapters are included. It is still under consideration and has not been confirmed.
Q: Are deleted topics coming back in NEET 2027? A: There is no sign of that. Topics removed in 2024, such as rolling motion in Physics, have stayed out of the syllabus for 2025 and 2026.
