If NEET 2027 moves to a computer-based test (CBT), you need to practise on a screen before exam day. The good news: you do not have to pay for that. A NEET 2027 CBT mock test free of cost is available from NTA’s own practice app, and you can turn free previous year papers into realistic on-screen mocks yourself.

This guide lists the free options, what each one is good for, what to watch out for, and a weekly routine that uses only free resources. For how the exam screen itself works, read our NEET CBT mock test guide, and for where the CBT decision stands, see the latest NEET 2027 CBT news.

Status as of 13 October 2026: NTA has not yet released an official NEET 2027 CBT mock test, because the CBT decision itself is not final. If NEET 2027 is confirmed as a CBT, expect NTA to publish an official demo test on its website, as it does for its other computer-based exams.
Why Practise in CBT Format at All?
NTA told the Supreme Court in May 2026 that it would move NEET to CBT from the next cycle, and in September 2026 the Centre said the change is “under active consideration”. Our check on whether NEET 2027 CBT is confirmed tracks the status. Until NTA decides, the safe plan is to be ready for both formats.
A screen changes small things that cost marks: reading long Biology statements on a monitor, clicking instead of bubbling, using the question palette, and doing rough work on a separate sheet. A free NEET mock test on screen once a week is usually enough to make these feel normal. Our guide on attempting NEET on a computer covers the on-screen technique, and our NEET 2027 mock test strategy explains how many full mocks to take and when.
The questions themselves will still come from the same NCERT chapters. You can practise chapter-wise NEET PYQs online for free, starting with Molecular Basis of Inheritance.
Free Option 1: NTA Abhyas App
NTA Abhyas is NTA’s own free practice app on Android and iOS. Its store listing describes computer-based mock tests for JEE Main and NEET in English and Hindi, with solutions and question-wise analysis.
- Cost: Free
- Why use it: The layout follows NTA’s style, so it is the closest free CBT interface practice from the exam body itself.
- Check before relying on it: The app’s last listed update on the App Store was in July 2024. Make sure the tests you take follow the current pattern of 180 compulsory questions, not the older 200-question format with an optional section.
Free Option 2: NTA’s Official Mock Test
NTA hosts free demo tests on its website for its computer-based exams. These use the real exam screen: the timer, the question palette, the colour codes for answered, not answered and marked for review, and the submit flow.
- Cost: Free, no registration for the demo
- Why use it: It shows the exact CBT interface you will see on exam day.
- For NEET 2027: If NEET moves to CBT, a NEET demo test is very likely. Until then, a JEE Main demo is still useful for learning the screen, even though the subjects differ.
Free Option 3: Previous Year Papers as Full-Length Mocks
Past NEET papers are free, and they are the most accurate free full paper you can take, because they are real NTA questions at the real difficulty. Download them from our collection of previous year papers for NEET, then solve them on a laptop or tablet:
- Open the paper on screen, not printed.
- Set a 180-minute timer and answer all 180 questions.
- Note your answers in a simple on-screen sheet or a separate page, not on the paper.
- Do rough work only on a blank sheet beside you, as in a CBT centre.
- Score with +4 and −1, then review every error.
For papers from 2021 to 2024, which had 200 questions with choices in Section B, attempt every question so the paper matches today’s no-choice format.
Free Option 4: Chapter-Wise PYQs Online
A full paper tests your stamina, but most of your marks come from chapter-level accuracy. A free NEET mock test of one chapter at a time, using previous year questions online, lets you practise every chapter on screen, daily, in short sets. Use them after you finish or revise each chapter, then take a full-length mock at the weekend.
Free vs Paid CBT Mock Tests
| Feature | Free options | Paid test series |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Nothing | Usually a few thousand rupees |
| Real NTA interface | NTA’s app and demo tests | Varies by provider |
| Fresh questions | Limited; mostly past papers | New papers every week |
| All India rank | Not available | Usually included |
| Detailed analysis | Basic | Usually detailed |
| A scheduled full test every week | You plan it yourself | Built in |
Free practice is enough to learn the CBT interface and to practise at the real level. A paid series adds fresh papers, an All India rank and a fixed schedule. Many students combine them: free PYQ mocks every week, plus a paid series in the last three months.
A Free Weekly CBT Practice Routine
| Day | Free practice |
|---|---|
| Monday to Friday | One chapter-wise PYQ set a day on screen, 45–60 minutes |
| Wednesday | One subject test from NTA’s free app |
| Saturday | One full paper: a past NEET paper, solved on screen in 180 minutes |
| Sunday | Review Saturday’s paper and re-solve wrong questions |
From January 2027, move to two full papers a week, and spend at least as long reviewing each paper as you spent writing it.
Red Flags in “Free” NEET Mock Tests
- Free only after sign-up, then asking for payment before you see results
- The old 200-question pattern with optional questions, instead of 180 compulsory questions
- No solutions, or answers with no explanation
- Questions from deleted topics that are no longer in the NEET syllabus
- Claims that NEET 2027 CBT is “confirmed” with no official source
Conclusion
You can prepare for a computer-based NEET without spending money. Use NTA’s free practice app and demo tests to learn the interface, solve past NEET papers on screen as full-length mocks, and practise chapter-wise PYQs online every day. When NTA releases an official NEET 2027 CBT mock test free on its website, add it to your routine and take it at least twice.
